Roll to Control

Highly effective escape from mount that is best done right as someone transitions to mount, before they settle in:

  1. Trap one of your opponents leg by stepping over and to the outside of one of their ankles
  2. Trap the outside of the same side arm, right at the elbow-pit
  3. Bump at a 45° angle on the same side and roll your opponent over to his/her back
  4. Immediately go to bicep-control, pushing your body back away from your opponent
  5. If done quickly enough, you will end up in your opponent’s open-guard
